Children’s Dentistry in Epping
At Epping Family Dental, our family-oriented team loves welcoming your little ones to the practice! We strive to create an inspiring environment that allows them to learn about proper oral health techniques and the importance of regular dental visits, to ensure a healthy, radiant smile for years to come.
Creating Good Habits for Life
Our primary goal is to keep your child’s teeth healthy—and we do that through prevention. When they visit us for a checkup and clean, we’ll go over proper brushing and flossing habits, talk about cavities and avoiding too many sugary sweets, and most importantly, make it fun so they love returning for future visits.
With us, kids can watch a television program or listen to music as they have their teeth cleaned. We also love to have Mum or Dad back near the chair with us, so that you’re an active partner in their oral health.
A general checkup and clean for a child will include X-rays (if they’re old enough), an examination of their gums and teeth, a fluoride treatment, and a clean. They’ll also be given a bag of goodies at the end—something every child seems to love.

Frequently Asked Questions
When should my child first see the dentist?
We typically see infants upon the eruption of their first teeth to ensure everything is coming in as it should. We can also provide Mum and Dad with instructions on how to clean their teeth before they’re big enough to do so themselves.
If my child needs a cavity filled, can you do that?
Absolutely. We use advanced white fillings instead of metal fillings, which can shift and even fall out or crack the tooth. A white filling is more stable and long-lasting, and will blend in with your child’s natural tooth.
Will you discuss healthy eating habits with my child?
Unless you instruct us otherwise, we love chatting with kids about what they can do to help keep their mouth and teeth healthy, including limiting their sugar intake. We’ll offer healthy snack ideas and help them understand the importance of drinking water to help rinse away cavity-causing debris.
What kind of toothpaste should my child use?
It’s important to choose a toothpaste designated for children—luckily, there are many brands and options at the supermarket. You can even make your child a partner in their oral health by allowing them to pick the brand or flavour, which can help encourage them to take care of their teeth.
